Overview Growing availability of geospatial data over the past three decades owes much to the emergence of locating systems and mobile devices into the open market. Once tabooed as solely the domain of espionage and military agencies, these are now in the center of our everyday life. Such an explosion in availability of geospatial data has led to new needs and ideas. Harnessing such information is seen by many as "reading between the lines" – reaching new conclusions by approaching existing data from a new angle: "Geospatial Data Mining". In practice, this has not been simple to achieve, mostly due to limits in computational capacities or other similar obstacles. Nonetheless, the most significant obstacle is the innovative thinking required to identify such potentials. As long-time pioneers of this field, we see the emergence of location based systems in new markets as an important step towards greater awareness of large scale operations. Analyzing geospatial data, or geospatial data mining, produces a wide variety of conclusive information, largely used for decision support: Ø Understanding behavior of entities over time Ø Identifying patterns and relations between entities Ø Prediction of future behavior Real-time analysis of geospatial data is becoming more feasible on large scales due to innovative thinking and technological advances.
